"Like any artist without an art form, she became dangerous"

Uncle who?

Uncle Barb

As a proprietor of a bookstore and then a video shop, Uncle Barb spent years informing herself about books and films, especially those relevant to the LGBTQ community.

Barbara Salzman was a featured film commentator for InsideOut in the Hudson Valley from 2003 – 2006, as well as a featured writer in various local publications.

In 2007, Barb received a Legacy Award for her contributions to the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center. Ron Nyswaner, writer of Soldier’s Girl and Philadelphia among many, and  Barbara Salzman combined to donate the fourth largest collection of LGBTQ films to the Center.

Opinionated, knowledgeable and without taint of Hollywood money, Uncle Barb is a curator par excellence.
